Meeting Notes:  June 30, 2008 @ 6:00 p.m.

1^st GBC of Kennett

Members Present:  Jeff Smart (Acting Chair), Steve McElwrath, Shawn Parker (Associational Youth Director),  Ryan Mason & Bryan Johnson.   Kent Luke and Chuck Provance were not able to attend)

Our meeting was opened in prayer by Bro. Steve McElwrath. 

The proposed dates we will be considering is February21 or 28 depending on the Workshop Leader/Speaker's schedule.

Our goal is to provide solutions to our churches that will increase their attendance and provide healthy growth in the numerous areas of ministry.

1.  After some discussion, the following topics were addressed:

a) Evangelistic Outreach teams that Work. Local people to draw from may be Jerry Tidwell, Pastor of Reynolds Baptist of Paragould, AR.

b) Missional Concepts with one of our speakers at the Missions and Ministries Guest Speaker and Author, Ed Stetzer. Both Ryan Mason and Pastor John Kruger have heard him and felt he would be more than capable of both providing inspiration, motivation and resources for the churches to follow up with.

c) Leadership Development for our Churches with mini-workshops speaking to the Sunday School Superintendent, Teachers, Pastoral Teams, etc.

1.  It was agreed upon to start with contacting Ed Stetzer with Lifeway Resources and try to get an answer as soon as possible to allow us to announce it at the Ministries and Missions Summit in Springfield, MO and begin preparation in notifying our MoArk Churches of the upcoming Workshop so that we don't become overwhelmed by other sand not have room for our own people.

2.  If he accepts, we will ask him about his preferences on format, and program development.

3.  We will offer lunch for those who would like to stay at the church to eat at a little higher price to compensate for the meal and a lesser price for those who would rather go out to eat.

1.We will be discussing at the next meeting other possibilities for ministry   provided by our board to our sister churches within the MoArk Association.

a. Adult Retreats.

b. Youth & Mission's Retreat.

c. Family Retreats.

d. Smaller, more focused workshops. (note II, 1, c) Utilize local pastors with    expertise to train others in our churches.

e. It was suggested using Camp Allen for some of these retreat possibilities, if a open date is available.

NEXT MEETING IS SCHEDULED FOR: August 4, 2008 @ 6:00 p.m. at the 1st GBC of Kennett.

UPDATE:  Ryan called a couple of days after our meeting and said that he is out of the office for two (2) months but will be checking emails while on the road speaking and doing seminars/workshops.

As soon as we know for sure as to whether he will accept it or not, we will pass that on.
